HIGH SPEED DATA CONNECTOR MEETS FCC SPECS, SAVES COST, COMPLEXITY.
New 3-in-1 SCSI-11 connector meets or exceeds shielding requirements
of FCC Part 15, sub-part "J". Classes A and B for RFI suppression.
Clarksville,
IN
-- Ranoda Electronics Inc here announces a new shielded connector
for use in new, state-of-the-art high speed SCSI -1I data storage applications.
New Ultra-SCSI-II
Shielded Connector from Ranoda combines data, control and power in one
compact connector body. Makers of mass memory peripherals can use this
new connector to reduce inventory count and save assembly time and circuit
board real estate. Additional cost reductions are realized because RFI
shielding is now an integral part of the connector, thus eliminating
the need for on-board ferrite beads and other RFI shielding and control
devices on the circuit board.
The new 3-in-1 combination
connector features 68 shielded SCSI-11 data contacts, rated at 1 Amp
each; 14 user-control contacts located on 0.100 inch centers, and four
power contacts rated at 4 Amps each on standard 0.200 inch centers.
Data, control, and power pin groupings each feature individual keyways
for correct orientation of system mating connectors.
Contacts are made
of phosphor bronze, copper or brass. Mating contact faces are plated
with a low-resistance gold flash over nickel. Solder connection areas
are plated with 100 micro-inches or more of tin-lead solder over nickel.
High temperature thermo-plastic
construction provides for high volume reflow soldering operations. The
connector body's high temperature resin assures dimensional stability
up to 220 deg C for a full minute and 260 deg C for 20 seconds, which
is the normal cycle time for solder reflow operations in high volume
IR tunnels. Connector operating temperature is rated at - 40 deg C to
+ 160 deg C. Insulation resistance is 5,000 Megohms or better at room
temp.
"Our new 3-in-1 shielded
connector promises to be a cost-saving benefit for makers of massive
tape backup and storage systems, CD drives, hard disk drives, and other
high speed storage peripherals," notes Lawson Williams, Ranoda's Senior
Vice President for North American Operations. "It helps reduce the overall
installed cost of high speed peripherals, while at the same time meeting
FCC specs for RFI."
