NEW USB CONNECTOR HELPS
SIMPLIFY PC INTERCONENECTS.
- "A"
version for high speed serial busses in PC systems
- Four in-line contacts with gold-over-nickel finish
- 12 Mbits/second bandwidth for PCs and peripherals
- Standard connectors are easy to use
Sunnyvale, CA. - Ranoda Electronics Inc. here announces
a new line of high speed standard connectors for the widely supported
Universal Serial Bus (USB).
PT Tan, Ranoda's Product
Marketing Manager for the new USB line, notes "As many as 23 million
personal computers are expected to be manufactured during 2000, and
as many as 9 million of them will probably be equipped with the standard
USB connector. This is an excellent market for Ranoda, because the USB
line dovetails well with our popular 3-in-1 combination connector, which
is very popular in the disk drives incorporated in so many PC systems."
He said. "We expect the two products to reinforce each other, and
both do very well."
Ranoda's new USB connector
line is configured per the "A" version of the standard. It
offers four in-line pins of brass or phosphor bronze, plated with nickel
and finished with a gold flash. Two pins are intended for power, and
tow for signals over twisted pairs.
These new USB connectors
feature a bandwidth of 12 Mbits/sec or better. This performance level
supports connectivity among high performance personal computers, internet
service providers, and high speed data storage units such as CD ROMs,
hard disk drives and camcorders. USB standardizes the host PC's connections
to printers, audio equipment, display screens, keyboards, mouses and
other peripherals.
The USB specification
creates a single standard port for interconnecting PC peripherals and
telephony equipment. It is especially needed in home installations,
where consumers can benefit greatly from simple plug-and-play installation,
and the ability to hot-swap peripherals and other equipment.
