NEW UNITIZED CONNECTOR FOR MASS MEMORY BUNDLES DATA, CONTROL, POWER INTO ONE. New 3-in-1 connector simplifies disk drive manufacture.
Power contacts are rated at 3 Amps each; data contacts are rated at 1 Amp each. Power contacts are located on standard 0.100 inch centers; data contacts are on 0.050 inch centers. There are four power, 12 control, and 68 data contacts. Contacts are made of phosphor bronze, copper, or brass. Mating contact faces are plated with a gold flash over 50 microinches of palladium nickel; solder-connection areas are plated with 100 microinches or more of tin-lead solder over nickel. High-temperature resin assures dimensional stability up to 260 deg C for 20 seconds, and 220 deg C for a full minute -normal cycle time for solder reflow operations in high volume IR tunnels. Connector operating temperature is rated at -40 deg C to +160 deg C. Insulation resistance is 5,000 Megohms or better at room temperature. Data, control and power pin groupings each feature individual keyways for correct orientation of mating connectors. Quick turnaround, low cost tooling is available to develop virtually any kind of custom, non-standard configuration. "Now, manufacturers of mass memory drives can reduce inventory count and save a lot of assembly time and PCB real estate by moving to our new 3-in-1 integrated connectors," said Lawson Williams, Ranoda's Vice President of Marketing. PRICE AND DELIVERY: Ranoda's new Ultra SCSI Combo 3-in-1 Mass Memory connectors are priced at approximately 2 cents per contact line, according to configuration and quantity. Delivery is quoted 6-8 weeks ARO for existing connector configurations. Ranoda Electronics Inc, a subsidiary of Ultro Technologies of Singapore, is a world-class manufacturer of high density interconnect products in custom and standard configurations for computer logic, consumer electronics, telecomm and wireless. |
