Ranoda Electronics Inc here announces a new upgrade replacement for the standard 50-pin connector used in business telecommunications systems.

Ranoda's new Model BCS telecommunications systems connector is uniquely ruggedized to withstand a minimum 1600 volts rms (2260 volts dc or peak) before corona discharge arc-over occurs between any two pins. It is a direct form, fit, and function replacement upgrade for standard board-edge ("Centronic") type business systems connectors.

Ranoda's new BCS connector is offered for use in areas where lightning strikes often. It is useful to any maker of business telecomm systems who may ship their products to Australia, New Zealand and other countries where lightning protection mandates (1600 volts between adjacent pins) are in effect.

There are many other locales, such as Florida, that are noted for their frequency of serious lightning strikes, and Ranoda's robust BCS connectors solve the problem there as well.

Model BCS connector maintains the standard ("Centronic") connector form and dimensions, yet increases its ability to withstand 1600 volts rms between any two adjacent pins by use of a proprietary blue insulating material.

Model BCS1 contact pitch is 2.160 mm. Its metal system is comprised of a minimum of 10 micro-inches of gold, plated over a minimum of 25 micro-inches of palladium/nickel, which in turn is plated over a minimum of 50 micro-inches of pure nickel, -which is plated over the contacts' phosphor bronze base metal.

Contact resistance is specified at 15 milli-ohms typical; maximum operating current per contact is 2 Amperes. Minimum operating lifetime is specified at 200 mate/demate cycles.

PRICE AND DELIVERY:

Ranoda's new Business Telecommunications System BCS connectors are priced between $1.00 and $1.15 each, depending on volume. Delivery is quoted from stock to 2 weeks ARO.
