Comprising a single plug-in part, the Encircled Electronic Compression (EECOM) connector plugs into the host pc board's plated-through holes. This design eliminates the female header, thus halving the number of parts and electrical connections, thus reducing material costs. The EECOM connector achieves electircal contact with compressible transverse terminals (split pins). Each opposing pin-half presses against its side of the plated-through hole. Specifications include a contact life of 1000 mating cycles, a typical contact resistance of 0.5 mOhms, and an insertion force of 50 g/contact. Other specification include an eletrical rating of 1 A at 100 Vac, an insulation resistance of 500 MOhms, and a dielectric withstanding voltage of 1000 Vac. The connector is molded into a high-temperature thermoplastic housing that secures the pins in place. The housing provides an orientation pin and two spring clips that guide the header into position and attach it to the pc board.
